Omega 365 Solutions in Bergen hosted an intensive program with nine participants, focusing on mastering Microsoft SQL Server and Omega 365 Appframe Security.

With a growing demand for software developers, Omega 365 Solutions in Bergen launched the program, dubbed ‘Camp Adam’ after its lead instructor, System Engineer Adam Galal. Nine participants took part in the initiative, which focused on mastering key technologies such as Microsoft SQL server and Omega 365 Appframe Security. The program combined structured sessions with practical tasks, interactive games, and even competitive Kahoot quizzes.

“The benefit of this program is that we are able to select the best candidates after having the opportunity to test them beforehand. Initially, we had a sense of ranking among the participants, but this changed significantly after six weeks,” says Jarle Gjerde, Department Manager at Omega 365 Solutions in Bergen.

Throughout the six-week period, participants were divided into three groups, each tasked with developing an app. They were responsible for everything from programming the app to designing its database and presenting the final product to Gjerde. System Developer Leif Hole also contributed to the program, offering specialized sessions on database performance tuning.

In addition to the group projects, two younger participants worked on a separate initiative, developing and programming a ROV simulator for use with virtual reality glasses.

“One participant, Thomas, joined our team as a student employee in September, working one day a week with plans for full-time employment in the future. Another standout was Ragnhild. She excelled, achieving the highest scores in both the SQL and Appframe Omega 365 exams. She has been offered a full-time position after her parental leave next summer,” says Galal.

“The program was a rewarding experience for both the participants and myself as an instructor. I learned a lot too. Coming from a different cultural background, I understand how candidates can sometimes be misjudged during traditional hiring processes. This program allows us to better assess those who are truly eager to work with us,” says Galal.

He emphasized that the program offers a more holistic approach to recruitment.

“It’s not just about interviews; we get to observe how participants work together and perform in real-world scenarios. This approach benefits both parties—we share our knowledge and make fair hiring decisions based on actual performance. It also gives participants a chance to see if Omega 365 is the right fit for them. The benefits are mutual.”
