The Marathon du Lac Annecy has been named one of France’s best running events. It is not difficult to understand. Imagine running in the sunrise along France’s cleanest lake, which is surrounded by snow-capped Alpine mountains. Annecy is a charming town located just over half an hour’s drive from Geneva. The city is called the “Venice of the Alps” because of all the canals that run through the city.

The historic guest house, Bekkjarvik Gjestgiveri, is located on the Austevoll archipelago, with comfortable accommodation, fantastic food, and good wine.

The guest house is run by the Johannesen family, who have offered accommodation and their services for over 35 years. Bekkjarvik was the heart of the fishing industry on the island, and the guest house was established by King Christian Quart in the 17th century. The food at Bekkjarvik Gjestgiveri is of high quality, and the kitchen is known for its use of fresh and local ingredients.

It is possible to take a bicycle tour on the island, and the guest house has both bicycles and mopeds for rent. The hike to Kongskleiva is also a popular activity.

Ramme Gård in Hvisten by the Oslofjord, has a rich history and was for a long time a popular summer resort for artists and writers, including Edvard Munch. Ramme Gård offers concerts, a gallery, and Munch-tours. 

We will visit the new Munch Museum in Oslo and the local museum at Ramme, which the shipowner son Petter Olsen has created. We get to see and experience the house were famous painter Edvard Munch lived and spent parts of his artistic life. The adventurous Havlystparken, Petter Olsen’s private garden oasis, is considered one of Norway’s most beautiful gardens on par with Flor & Fjære outside Stavanger.
