Omega 365 at Nor-Fishing
Nor-Fishing is the world's largest technology fair for the fishing industry. This year, the event brought together exhibitors and visitors from over 60 countries in Trondheim, held from August 20th to 22nd. Omega 365 took part as an exhibitor, with Lars Aas Kjebekk describing the experience as highly valuable.
Published: 03. September 2024“We're eager to expand into sectors where we haven't had much experience yet,” says Kjebekk, Department Manager at Omega 365 Solutions in Stjørdal. “Omega 365 Solutions has a strong presence in oil, gas, construction, and civil engineering, but we see significant potential in the maritime and aquaculture industries.”
Since 1960, Nor-Fishing has been a vital meeting place for the national and international fishing industry. For Kjebekk and his colleagues, this year’s fair brought fresh experiences and new opportunities.
“Omega 365 Solutions has consistently attracted new clients, so we haven’t prioritized active sales efforts. However, as we enter this expansion phase, increasing our visibility—especially in industries where we are less known—has become important. This requires us to step out of our comfort zone, but the benefits are substantial.”
At the fair, Omega 365 Solutions in Stjørdal showcased a newly designed stand, created and delivered by Omega 365 Design.
“Our goal was to create something that would catch people's attention and spark their curiosity,” Kjebekk explains.
“The stand was well-executed, offering a warm and inviting atmosphere that received a lot of positive feedback. We also served food samples from the local island region, which were a hit with visitors.”
Omega 365 Solutions signed a contract with Gaia Salmon in 2023. Gaia Salmon, an innovative seafood farming facility, is constructing a new fish farm in Træna that uses Omega 365 for project management and operations. After the Omega 365 team attended the fair as exhibitors for the first time, the three days left them eager for more.
“Our stand was well-visited, and we connected with many new people. We’re now in discussions with three or four companies and hope to explore potential collaborations with them. It's clear that getting out and meeting people can unlock many possibilities.”
The Nor-Fishing and Aqua Nor fairs alternate every year, with Aqua Nor set to take place next year.
“While Nor-Fishing is aimed at maritime industry suppliers, Aqua Nor focuses specifically on the aquaculture industry, where we can engage directly with industry owners. We plan to participate in Aqua Nor next year,” Kjebekk says.
Reflecting on their experience, Kjebekk shares a lighthearted moment from the fair: “Many visitors thought we were selling fish oil because of our name, 'Omega,' and the fact that we were at a fishing fair. That was amusing, so maybe next year, we’ll bring Omega 3 capsules as a fun giveaway,” he concludes with a smile.
