Well underway with a new custom solution
After several years of hard-work, the software solution developed for one of our clients has now been upgraded. It is now based on the Omega 365 Core Technology Platform. “Future-proof and scalable,” say Project Manager Cecilie Høvring and Department Manager Vidar Nordnes about the upgraded solution based on the new platform.

Together with Project Manager Cecilie Høvring, he talks about the largest customization and development project Omega 365 has done for a client. Nordnes praises the team for their hard work in reaching this important milestone. The solution delivered to the client is based on the Omega 365 Core Technology Platform, which foundation is the experience from over 40 years of delivering software solutions.
“We have done this together. An entire department has been trained in the project. The knowledge has been distributed among several people, making the work less dependent on individuals. Where there were once three, there are now over 30 people who can solve issues for the client,” says Nordnes.
The team is divided into three groups: one handling bug fixing, another developing the apps, and the third focusing on performance tuning. Nordnes believes the project has also had positive effects on the work environment.
Daily client meetings
Cecilie Høvring, Team Lead at Omega 365 Solutions, is the project manager for the largest project being transitioned to the new platform. Høvring has been working on the project for three years, which went live on March 8, International Women's Day, with the launch of 151 apps. After initially developing new solutions on the old platform, everything was migrated to the Omega 365 Core Technology platform in 2022.
The project is now in its second phase, where Høvring and her team have rewritten the entire system and customized the solution for the client. Several apps are still in progress, and Høvring works closely with both the client and the developers. Currently, her time is spent on adjustments and improvements. In daily client meetings, she communicates with “super-duper users”—a small group of super users with the deepest insights. During these meetings, she relays feedback to the developers in Solutions and provides suggestions for improvements to Omega 365 Core.
A faster system
Høvring is pleased with all the possibilities the new platform the solution is built on, offers.
“Only the information the client needs to see in the app is loaded, rather than loading everything each time. This makes the system feel much faster. Additionally, we can reuse elements across different apps, making programming more efficient,” says Høvring.
“For example, dropdown menus, which are used in 80-90 percent of the system, are created just once. This results in cleaner code, making it easier and quicker to fix issues. With standardized components, you don't need to write a thousand lines of code, but rather just ten,” she elaborates.
The team is now continuing with the second phase of the project.
“What we're working on now is finalizing the functionality that existed in the apps in the old system, ensuring that defined best practices are implemented, and developing the remaining apps. Once that's in place and the project is completed, we'll continue working on capturing everything that can be improved and further developed.”
