ROV Pilot

Omega Subsea is seeking skilled and safety-conscious ROV Pilots to strengthen our offshore team.

As an ROV Pilot, you will contribute to the safe and efficient operation of ROV systems in accordance with approved procedures, project requirements, and Omega Subsea’s QHSE standards. The role is part of an operational team dedicated to the safe and efficient execution of subsea operations, with a strong focus on technical quality and safety.

You will work closely with the ROV Supervisor, Shift Supervisor, and other offshore personnel to ensure stable operations, accurate documentation, and that equipment is operational and ready for use at all times.

All employees follow the company’s competence policy, including participation in the competence management program and completion of required assessments and verifications.

These positions are offshore-based and report operationally to the ROV Supervisor.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Operate the assigned ROV system as directed by the ROV Supervisor and/or Shift Supervisor in accordance with approved project procedures and work scope 

  • Ensure all operations are conducted safely, efficiently and in compliance with Omega Subsea QHSE management system 

  • Monitor and operate the ROV, TMS and Launch and Recovery System in a safe and controlled manner 

  • Maintain clear communication with the ROV Supervisor in all technical and operational matters 

  • Complete dive logs, video logs, maintenance logs and required project documentation 

  • Perform fault-finding and first-line troubleshooting on mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems 

  • Execute preventive maintenance tasks and ensure proper documentation in the maintenance management system 

  • Ensure all equipment and tools are fit for purpose prior to use 

  • Participate actively in toolbox talks, pre-job briefings and operational meetings 

  • Contribute positively to teamwork and maintain good working relationships with offshore personnel and client representatives 

  • Provide guidance to ROV Trainees and junior personnel when delegated 

 

Qualifications 

  • Formal technical education within mechanical, electrical, automation or similar discipline, minimum two years, or equivalent relevant experience 

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in ROV operations 

  • IMCA ROV Pilot Technician certification is preferred, or working towards certification 

  • Valid offshore medical certificate 

  • Valid and in-date offshore safety training such as BOSIET 

  • Good understanding of hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems 

  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and documentation 

  • Fluent in written and spoken English
