Split Barge Captain

Responsibilities:

• Safely operate the split barge in various weather and sea conditions.

• Ensure vessel compliance with maritime safety regulations.

• Monitor and maintain proper functioning of propulsion, steering, and all systems.

• Decide on routes, speeds and operations based on weather forecasts & safety needs.

• Supervise cargo loading, transporting, and unloading, primarily dredged material.

• Ensure proper cargo distribution for vessel stability and safety.

• Lead and manage the crew, ensuring safety protocols and daily tasks are followed.

• Conduct crew training, performance evaluations, and regular safety drills.

• Oversee vessel maintenance, scheduling repairs and inspections.

• Maintain accurate logs, records, and prepare operational reports for the project manager.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in safety procedures and emergency response.

• Expertise in vessel handling and operational control.

• Knowledge of preventative maintenance and equipment upkeep.

• Strong leadership and communication skills for managing crew.
