Edvard Munch, spa and seaside living

Art mixed with blue and green surroundings by the Oslofjord.

This weekendtrip offers an exciting mix of art and culture and lush garden and spa experiences!

We start by visiting the Munch Museum in Oslo to study the art of one of the world's greatest painters housed in a brand new museum building, both reviled and praised. We’ll have lunch in the trendy Bjørvika area, and we’ll pass the famous opera house to take a closer look at this magnificent modern building.

Our bus takes us than to the seaside town of Son southeast of Oslo. We’ll check in at Son Spa, one of Norway's finest spa hotels. We will enjoy the fine spa facilities with various pools, and it’s also possible to take a dip in the Oslofjord itself since the hotel is located just by it. In the evening we’ll enjoy a delicious dinner in the hotel's restaurant.

Saturday we’ll drive to Ramme gård in Hvitsten, an old fishing village by the fjord known, among other things, for the fact that Edvard Munch lived and worked here. We’ll visit his summer cottage, now a museum, and we’ll study Munch's paintings collected by the famous art collector Petter Olsen. Petter Olsen is also known as the creator of Havlystparken, a gigantic garden with a colorful display of flowers, water fountains and garden sculptures. We’ll take a guided walk through this lush park, and we’ll have a delicious lunch at Ramme gård, where mainly organic ingredients from the farm are used.

In the evening we’ll take a stroll along the pier in Son dotted by sailboats and fishing huts, and we’ll have dinner in a charming restaurant by the pier.

The next and last day we’ll have full access to the spa facility at the hotel until the bus picks us up and returns the group to Gardermoen airport.
