Omega 365 sponsoring local children’s camp

Last week, the Etne Red Cross facilitated a free-of-charge children's summer camp, Camp Hjørnås. As an advocate for providing exciting activities for all children, regardless of financial background, Omega 365 is a proud sponsor of Camp Hjørnås in Etne, near Ølensvåg.

The camp was arranged the mountains of Etne, located near Ølensvåg, home to Omega 365's Headquarters. Throughout the four days of camp, children had the opportunity to engage in a diverse range of activities, such as climbing, canoeing, and woodworking, allowing them to explore and develop new skills. In addition, the older children got to practice first aid, fishing, cycling, and disc golf. The camp ended with a concert held by Emma Gunnarsen, a Norwegian teen-artist.

Omega 365 is a proud sponsor of this event, and CFO, Kjell Tore Helgeland, says Camp Hjørnås is spot on for the spirit and values of Omega 365.

“This camp is dedicated to children and youth, and as sponsors, we strongly believe in supporting and advocating a free-of-charge summer camp that offers a wide range of exciting activities. It is an endeavor we consider highly meaningful and important,” says Helgeland.

Project manager of Camp Hjørnås, Nils Arne Ramsvik, who also works as a system developer in Omega 365 Solutions Ølensvåg, characterizes the camp as a success.

“It has been an incredible adventure despite weather challenges! With over 100 dedicated volunteers and exclusively positive feedback from both parents and volunteers, this year's Camp Hjørnås was a success we are proud to have accomplished,” says Ramsvik.

Spirit of community volunteering

Many employees of Omega 365 have been volunteers at the camp for years. One of them is system developer and Team Leader at Omega 365 Solutions Ølensvåg, Bjørg Fredriksen, who is also part of the camp committee. She is also a deputy leader of Etne Red Cross, who facilitated camp. Her tasks vary.

“I contribute wherever needed, from preparing breakfast and waking up participants who stay overnight, to working at the kiosk, organizing concerts, creating websites, logos, and more,” Fredriksen said.

Fredriksen has been an active volunteer the past thirteen years. Volunteers are crucial, she said.

“They are the ones who make Camp Hjørnås possible. Without volunteers, there would be no camp. I am incredibly impressed by the willingness to volunteer and the fantastic attitude of all the volunteers who have participated,” she said excitedly.

She continues,

“This camp was especially successful since we managed to organize the camp without any participant fees, thanks to local businesses as sponsors, as well as funding from Hordaland Red Cross and support from various foundations and organizations. This ensures that everyone can participate on equal terms, regardless of their financial background.”
